Main Attractions: The Holland America fleet of ships are among the most spacious at sea having been designed to carry fewer guests than other ships in their class. While not available on all ships, some of the main attractions are the $2 million plus collection of artwork and antiques, two outdoor swimming pools, the Opulent Greenhouse Spa and Salon, Piano Bar, Casino and Sports Cafe and Internet “hotspots” for laptop Internet connectivity.
Ballroom Dance Facilities: There’s a lot of excitement surrounding the Holland America “Dancing with the Stars: At Sea” theme cruises which are sailing in 2013 and early 2014. The cruises will feature events including dance lessons, a chance to meet the dancers, take photos, and a dazzling production starring the celebrities and famed dance pros. According to their press release, the experience will be made complete with glamorous costumes and routines from the TV show performed on stage.
In 2014, the “Dancing with the Stars: At Sea” theme cruises will be on board the ms Nieuw Amsterdam. Seven-day voyages include an Eastern Caribbean cruise on January 5 and a Western Caribbean cruise on January 12.
Ballroom Dance Lessons: Holland America now offers their guests chance to learn the basics or new ballroom steps. These are complimentary dance classes are based on dance routines from the ABC smash hit show: “Dancing with the Stars.” Guests good enough and brave enough can also compete in the Dancing with the Stars: At Sea competition. Similar to the TV show, there is an early elimination process and the finalists will have the opportunity to take to the main stage with Holland America Line professional dancers. One Cruise Champion will emerge, based on the highest combined point total from their panel of three judges as well as audience participation.
Enrichment and Personal Growth Programs: There is a Culinary Arts Center with a state of the art demonstration kitchen for gourmet presentations and cooking classes, Explorations Speaker Series on cruises 10 days or longer and great shore excursions, Other activities include yoga, pilates, weight training and gaming lessons
